Visiting Fellow Spotlight: Hang Nguyen

Dr. Hang Thi Thuy Nguyen is a lecturer at the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her research interests are U.S.-Vietnam relations, U.S.-EU relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and foreign policy analysis. She received an M.A. with Distinction in International Studies from the University of Sheffield, the United Kingdom in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Global, Urban and Social Studies from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (The RMIT University), Australia in 2017. She is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar with the Cornell University Southeast Asia Program. During her stay, which will be for the duration of the 2018-2019 academic year, she will be working on a research project on U.S.-Vietnam security cooperation since 2011, including the impact of the rise of China, under the supervision of Professor Keith Taylor. She has been published in various well-regarded journals. Among them are Orbis: Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Journal of World Affairs, Asian Affairs: An American Review, Portuguese Journal of Political Science, Malaysian Journal of International Relations, Global Change, Peace and Security, Idian Journal of Asian Affairs, and Asian Journal of Public Affairs.
