Afterschool Language and Culture Program

Children

The goal of the Afterschool Language and Culture Program is to expose K-12 students to a wide array of cultures and languages in an effort to foster cross-cultural understanding and inspire them to study foreign languages. In the Fall of 2017, seven students at the Beverly J. Martin Elementary School participated in the program. Over the course of six weeks, students learned Indonesian with SEAP academic visitor, Nurlaela Jum. This Spring, a new group of students will study Vietnamese with Cornell sophomore, Thanh Thanh Nyugen.

We are seeking Cornell student, staff, and faculty volunteers to teach Southeast Asian languages in our K-12 partner schools. If you would like to volunteer, please contact SEAP Graduate Outreach Assistant, Naudia Williams, at nrw37@cornell.edu.
