Cornell Gamelan Ensemble

The Cornell Gamelan Ensemble was organized in the summer of 1972. From that time to the present, the ensemble and elementary courses in the history, theory and performance of gamelan have been taught in the Department of Music. Participation in all levels of gamelan playing and dance is available to any Cornell student, faculty or staff member, and other members of the Ithaca community. The Cornell Gamelan Ensemble works closely with Cornell's Southeast Asia Outreach Program. These are various ways that members of the group can help K-12 students learn more about gamelan in Indonesia and experience playing the instruments.
